Loving this build. The cage should help transmit the loads from the coilovers nicely. The welding is going very well indeed.

Don't be catching any tropical diseases until you've finished all the welding.

I've looked at the revised K37 rules at some length. As long as you don't exceed 3.0litre and the base car doesn't increase engine size by 25% (ie 323ti compact) it should be legal!
Not really sure what the first event will be, aiming for the Harry Flatters in August up on Epynt, but if and it'll be a big IF(!) it's completed sooner maybe a gravel BTRDA event.....
Had a couple of day's on the shell this week with Dan my step-son. Had him making cardboard templates for the rollcage wrap for the 'X' in the main hoop and lots of little plates to fill the numerous holes in the bulkhead, I never knew child slave labour had so many benefits!

Decided to go down the twin ear root for diff mounting, the metal blade welded to the chassis goes straight through the box section and is also welded to the boot floor. Didn't think there was any need to add any trianglation to these two blades as the diff is also bolted to the cage via the centre mount, it's all weight after all! That's one of the reason's for fitting the back cover without a drain plug...........
Awesome as usual Mike, especially liking the inner rear quarter lightening technique, reminds me of my Sunbeam where I took the hole saw to everything.

I had abit of a scare last week, I'd dropped of my weld sample at R+D, Roger Nevitt had said at the time how they'd recieved a lovely looking TIG weld sample which failed the strain test. On the way home we'd thought about what a tricky situation that could leave someone in. Generally most people must weld the cage together, then do the weld sample and submit it, it's abit late in the day when you get a phone call telling you that your welding isn't up to scratch. Well last week.......... the phone went, "is that Mike?", "We've got a problem with your weld sample!" After picking myself off the floor, I sheepishly asked "what seems to be the problem?" "You haven't included the self weld document with your sample!"
This is the second cage I've actually welded in, the first being an Evo6, none of those tubes had any labels on of what they were so that was a headache! Unfortuneatly I tested that one to destruction, it went over six times before coming to a rest SS2 on the 2001 rally GB, the first forest stage........

Which e36 models' diff cover do you use with the e30/34 casing?

All the 6-pot cars larger than 2.0L, except the 3.2 Evo.
Progress has slowed up abit of late, work getting in the way of pleasure! The BTCC kicked off at the weekend at brands, we had some of the BM's in the next garage to us so I've been keeping my eyes open for ideas to pinch!
Along with keeping the weight down low these roundy roundy boy's also have the gearlever close to the wheel 
Because the gearlever is now attached to the car and not the gearbox I've uprated to the engine mounts to keep everything in check, I hope! 
looks smart are your designs based around the standard steering column or is that getting `the works` too
edit: if you want to keep standard gearbox mounts, theres loads to choose from, but i know 23 71 1 175 939 mounts used on 325's to old m5's are nice and solid compared to many.
