hi everyone , not posted for a few weeks but have been working and sorting out the car , if it can leak it has , if it can not work it hasnt , its been a fight right up to the end , shes on the trailer ready to go to have have a map put on tomorrow , few alterations to the original build , put a swirl pot in after servicing for bimsey at pembrey , even with twin pumps we were still having fuel surge problems , so put a pot in straight away , coil on plugs has gone this was more to do with a base map i was sent rather than set up , car would only fire on 2 coils then after having the map altered would not start at all ,time just flies by when your waitng for others to sort things out going back and forth so gone for wasted spark now with a different base map , it does start and run to a fashion but its pouring fuel in so only run for leak checks etc .. been a frustrating few weeks as all of you who have built cars will know , dummy out of the pram quite a few times , hopefully tomorrow will be a day , big thanks also to bimsey for the loan of the trailer and the space to build her .

ha ha even loading the car was not without frustration , managed to chew the bumper on the winch , but luckily the winch is undamaged .......

early finish at the mappers due to an intermittent tappet noise , not severe but he would prefer it checked out before giving it all , so will try to get to it over the christmas hols , it is running tidy now after sorting a fews basics on the map . pleased with progress so far anyway on the home straight now ...

been collecting wheels for a while now , stripped all tyres off so they are ready to go off for blasting and powder coating next week , got a few to bend at least .

Denzil, are these the Styling 135 wheels? See the writing on the 2nd wheel down says E60 so are these the ET20 version?

hi keith that was an odd single i bought in but its the same as the e60 offset not sure of the et as they are all down the workshop , when im down there next ill have a check and pm you back , id only be guessing otherwise ,

after a top end strip down to check for the intermittent tapping noise when the car went for mapping found one of the cam buckets had some scratches around its body which looks like it had been caused by a bit of swarf or deris although i was unable to find anything , luckily no damage to the carrier changed the bucket and re-shimed the tappets as a few were a tad slack and and the odd loose one ..... put it all back together and run it up to temp and all seems ok , does seem quieter on the tappet side as well , going to phone the rolling road and book a session next week , be time to get seats and belts then , log book , cearwent in march looks to be the one , not everyones favourite venue due to its notorious kerbs but i enjoy it , will be the first one back in the seat for 10 years so it will be like driving miss daisey .

credit to you mate, the car looks really well. im interested in knowing how well your engine goes, I have a e30 with a 2.5 6 cylinder engine but also have an m42 and some of the parts to build a stroked engine. cant make my mind up if its worth the effort and investment to build it, hopefully you can convince me to do it!

I`ve got the M42 engine in my compact which was built by Shrigley Engineering, it`s knocking on the door of 240 bhp. very crisp and sounds the berries. (slightly different build to Denzilbmw ) but imagine his will be around that mark.
It`s worth looking into!

hi chris , its all done now just finish off the mapping, seats and belts , its been to Vinces twice but both times theres been problems with cam followers ,although they were the catcams solid ones for the cams , so ive taken them out and replaced with different ones which seems to have sorted it , just need to re-book with vince to finish it , busy at the moment though been asked to build another car , so thats only going to make it busier , but still hopeing for cearwent ..
