What catcams did you decide on? I did ponder a 4 pot build a few years back,, not too dissimilar to the XE on paper - bore /stroke /valve sizes etc

went for 1301518 in the end which are on solid lifters , roughly 4 to 8 thou rev wise if ive worked it out right , yes i thought that originally got to be somewhere near xe power, give it a go anyway in too deep now lol , never had massive power cars anyway so it will do ..

It would have been them or the 519 cams that I'd have gone for,,, I've never been that greedy with cam duration. Looking forward to seeing the results

well painfully slow progress at the moment , family over the hols , bad knee playing up again , and loads of other excuses , took head to the engine shop friday for shiming up , could see by the guys face and his list of excuses he didnt want to do it so have a go myself will just take a little longer , started with some different thickness washers to get a rough idea , shim is like a top hat which fits upside down on the bucket , really freaked the bloke out , tad unuseual apparently " not the way we do it boy " was his best remark ,all measured roughly now just need to get the final measurements to order .

picked this up this morning from the machine shop, intermidiate manifold to go between the bodies and the airbox . added advantage the misses is away for the weekend so i was able to assemble it on the breakfast bar in the warm instead of the shed .... :lol



really pleased how its turned out , if you seen my drawing i gave them they deserve a medal .



loads of small bits and bobs arrived over the last week or two so busy few days ahead with no excuses . try to get some big hours in if i can stick the cold , tick some items off that list of jobs i got to do ....

from the kitchen to the garage fitted it all up today just to check it goes where it should , no further mods required to airbox , get it flatted off and painted, finish off bolting it all together and work out a better throttle linkage than whats there now , but pleased with how its come together , need to make support for it as its a big old box , got a few more nigley bits done as well , thems the ones that take all the time ....

too many dollars for a carbon one , only carbon ones i could find were into 4 figures , my little fleabay beauty will do the job just as well ...... hopefully ..

few more jobs done this weekend , pads and calipers fitted front and rear for the final time and ready to bleed up , steering shaft knuckle changed for the alloy spacer type , bonnet repaired and painted including the lamp pod and decided to paint air box as it was there and ready for paint , perhaps not to everybodys taste it was a toss up between black or car colour , rad mounts fitted , guard brackets finished off . time to get on with building the motor this week if i can, still need to finish measureing the shims and get them ordered , throttle cables all fitted and linkages done , cool feed all done as well, so it is getting there , decided to set my sights on midsummer cearwent , gotta love those kerbs

short motor all built up today just the flywheel and sump to finish off , shims ordered for the head and should land early next week can finish off the dummy build to check valve/piston clearence

baffle plate finished off as well , was going to big wing the sump but checked the capacity and they hold 5 litres anyway so with the cooler and pipes should be closer to 6 litres then so that will be enough for now plus one job less , bonus .
