Car up and running again and the new motor has done 20 miles. Far more than the last one. All good at the moment so looking good for the event in two weeks with 6 pot power. . Been to Tesco's at Haydock and plodding around in traffic to simulate Blackpool road conditions.
I think we are the only BMW at the moment so we hope to do the marque proud

Got some miles on this engine now and all well at present. Do you know issues with the rev counter. I guess with It being a 6 pot now it wont be calibrated right as it goes off the clock very easily. No wonder its quiet at noise.

Sounds like you need the clocks out of the six pot car..

Or a bigger exhaust.
You can use an in line pulse modulator and recalibrate the tacho to custom spec.

Or a 6 pot cluster.

Just got out seeding. could be interesting Friday night if everything goes OK with the car. Sadly, we are the only BMW in the 110 car field which I thought is surprising.

Anyone had problems with slave cylinders popping? We have had two go on us recently.

After a replacement Slave & master cylinder I think we are sorted. What a Ba$tard to bleed they are. You have to do it manually off the car before fitting

Excellent!,,,, the 2.8 must have a good but more ooomph than the old 1.8 then? Have you got the m50 inlet manifold on it and a remap?

Its much easier to bring a smile to your face and its sounds great too. Its got the M50 manifold but its a standard map with the EWS removed. We will see how the North West Stages go before getting it rolling roaded.

It was like starting again with a new car to some degree with our Phil learning how the power comes in with the 2.8. Luckily no issues with the engine through the event but we had a few issues with other bits. The Rad & the clutch will need to go I'm afraid.
The rally started slow on Friday but we picked up the pace on Saturday and we going OK until we did an extra lap of Fleetwood docks (I'm exonerated after the in car video). We went well round Weeton but came a cropper on the last but one stage at Clifton when we slid off into probably the only ditch on the site. Luckily the marshals were on hand to get us out but much time was lost. We were very happy to make the finish with 4th in our class so something to build on in the coming months.

I'm going to fit the m3 cooling system as it has a header tank,,,, if it can keep 300bhp cool then it should be man enough! Lol. Cracking result though! - what's wrong with the clutch?
