Big day today! Shells in paint and i have bolted a couple of bits back on it. back lights and boot and door seals counts doesn't it!!!

good to bolt on "shineys!" but the rest of the jobs are a pain! but fun!

slowly getting on with all the time consuming jobs, cleaned up all the suspension and painted. sent shocks to bilstein for a bit of love, cut the dash around the cage and had it flocked etc. still doesnt look any further on! decided to get cracking with piping up the fuel/ brake lines.

next im going to get on with sorting the wiring harness, cant make my mind up if to keep glass in the car or go polycarb, also if to make a dash cluster like the prodrive cars or not??

big weight saving losing the glass i prefer the bmw clocks as its all there i;e rev counter, rev counter , rev counter !! and normally all works for less wiring.

definately going to loose the glass and keep the doors empty of all the bits it doesnt need! it also means there is loads of wiring to get rid of for weight. the only reason im tempted to make a dash is that i wont be using the fuel guage and the temp guages never seem great.
i might have a go at adding some extra guages in the original dash next to the speedo and rev counter.

Good to see this is moving Adam , I see your tank is raised a little, for a gravity fed pump?

We've never had any surge or pressure loss with our system. We had a sump welded to the base before we filled it with gas (undersize hole cut in tank base to baffle)>


We have a cleanable gauze filter, before the pump and a paper filter after the pump. The pump & filter is only under the tank because the first tank was half size >

the engine is still sat in the corner of the engineers clean room! not really got any further than that at the moment. i just need to bite the bullet and order some cams from cat cams, it can then be got on with. ive got it in my head that i want to get the wiring and the plumbing done on the car before i spend on an engine that doesnt have a car thats ready. im looking for a throttle body set up for it now i think also.
you cant see from the photo but the tank has got a sump in the left hand side of the tank under the platform with a fitting directly on it. the union that can be seen is a return.
ive been busy getting stuff sorted for the car but it all is behind the scenes stuff, im hoping to get some good time on it soon. the aim is to get it done for spring next year maybe.

Apologies if you've been asked and already answered this question, but why take your engine to 2.1 which takes you up a class, rather than stay in the up to 2.0 class, or is it your intention to avoid the Vauxhall 16V engined cars etc?

the car will be used for road rallys and stage events so will retain the standard inlet manifold. im basically after an engine with reasonable grunt without going too mad. i have got all the engine parts to build a long stroke engine. i dont honestly think the engine will be any match for class 3 260bhp escorts etc nor class 4, but i want it to be able to skid properly and have some fun!!! im aiming for as big as it will go ideally. on the subject of m42 engines how was your engine, was it about 180bhp iirc?

got a few more bits sorted recently, had a headling made and fitted to keep within the trim rules for roadrallying! nice black alcantara material made by a friend of mine.

started to get all the painted supension bolted back on the car also. painted these with 1k black gloss

manage to get a few more parts cleaned up and painted. front wishbones are on rear arms have had the disc backplates trimmed down (copied from the bruvs cars) got all the pedal assembly mounted and bias pedal box fitted.
Going to fit the heater box today and get the dash in place ready for some head scratching and wiring harness alterations!!

front and rear suspension are now fully assembled and in the car. steering rack and columb fitted with steering lock mechanism removed. been making a dash binnicle and started on the wiring harness. more chopping tomorrow!
also been messing with paint for the wheels! works car gold????
