Disgruntled with our club

As discription weve been with our club now for 5 years at least.
Not wishing to blow or own trumpet but weve had some bloody good results this year.
how many times have we been in the club magazine this year. A big fat 0 we are also leading the ANWCC championship as well which in turn is helping the club lead the championship.
We are not glory seekers but a little recognition from the club gos a long way. Especialy when you read magazines from other clubs and look at there websites. crews who ever they are and it doesnt matter what result they get, get a mention.
Instead our club magazine seem to concentrate on one family. And what a young lad was doing last year.( not to take anything away from this lad he did very very well and he is bloody quick but that was last year and he hasnt done anything this year).
So sod it which club would be gratefull of the extra championship pionts.

just a question , how many times have you done them a write up and passed it on to a commmittee member? also are any of you on the comittee? or help in the club? so that you are given any recognition ? only reason i say this is i'm a committee member and so is is-si, we have lots of "members that want to be "patted on the back" or just join to "glory hunt" because they think there the only ones out there doing well, but do nothing in return !! if your actively making the effort and getting nothing in return join "another" club and move on.

and i also run the facebook website activly getting people out to the autotests.
I did say it wasnt about the glory hunting or anything along then lines, we feel let down this has been brewing for a good few years now.
we dont get invited to anything i dont recieve the magazine from the club i get it of another member.
the list could go on and on.
Oh and another thing that realy realy pissis me of is i still havnt received a club membership card ive got a scrap of paper as a receipt saying ive paid up makes it bloody ackward at signing on at the rallys. despite asking 8 times this year for one.

Hmm, seems like another case of face not fitting. Unfortunately one of lifes facts that will constantly sneak up and bite you. (I speak from years of experience as I'm an old git) There are those who seem to have all the luck (and praise, recognition and reward - even when not justified) and the sun always shines from their proverbial exhaust. You cannot escape the fact. It exists at work and at play and to some extent even within the family environment and will always be the case. You can do very little about it but what you can do is accept it happens and ignore it as best you can and move forward positively.

You have done the right thing and changed clubs as there appeared to be issues.

You have to accept that although your results and Championship progress mean so much to you and your nearest (and rightly so) it effectively means Fook Hall to most other people.

The Prima Donnas (sp ?!) will always have their followers feet protruding from their @rses and these brown nosers will always sing their heroes praises to all and sundry - let them and recognise the situation for what it is.

If it's any consolation to you when I was leading the ANWCC (a while ago now ) the Motoring News went with an item reporting to the nation how another crew were leading. Hey ho - It happens

Don't lose sight of why you go rallying - It's for the enjoyment. Beware of Championship fever it can adversely affect the enjoyment factor.

After reading the posts i do sound like a little bit of a prick.
Theres plenty i could say but havnt little hard to bite your tounge sometimes.
you must remember that at the rate we are burning tyres fuel ect ect sponsorship is needed. how can you ask for that when your own club isnt behind you. a dossier of club mags and national press cuttings and tv coverage all helps. as does leading championships.
a paragraph on the back page would have done us were not greedy and do not expect the world.

I dont think so. You've given some more background in the discussion and it sounds like things aren't right. No Club cards and improper mailing is unacceptable.

I'm the membership secretary for Stockport061 amongst other things, ultimately you may need a more local club but you are welcome aboard. Formal cards would be issued, but most our clubs publications are electronic, due to being easy to forward and in good colour.

Sponsorship is almost impossible to find - even more so these days. Ideally you need any sponsorship in place before you commit to a Championship.

When you look closely at sponsorship deals they are usually a friend of the family or the family business or a business "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" arrangement etc etc.

Championships are costly to do. We were doing ANWCC and Motoring News back in 1996 only because I was fortunate to secure sponsorship that year. Without it we could not afford to do so and would have happily carried on doing selected single venues. To be honest doing the ANWCC with its pressures and time constraints spoiled the fun of rallying to an extent certainly for my no1 Son who navigated.

My advice to you would have been only do events at venues you really want to visit and if possible do the Epynt/Otterburn type of single venue and deffo the Isle of Man. Tyre and mechanical wear and tear on the car is nothing compared to that of tight and twisty stop and start single venues. Do fewer but better events not only will you get more miles for your buck you'll get more smiles too.

If it's any consolation you are on Warrington's website after you won the Enville Stages. I should know as i put the pic up. Are you coming to defend the Enville this year?
