Thanks. Already reached this decision - and it means if 'you know who' ever enters another rally (having found his mojo and cured his holiday and knitting habit) and beats me I've got the great excuse that I'm 40bhp down on him

Plan was to build new shell with entirely new parts except seats, brakes, suspension and sell existing car as a complete rally car. But now intending to do a complete reshell and re use virtually everything - ie keep same 3.0 engine etc and sell my current shell once stripped of parts... Any views?

only you can answer that one but if poss, break the bank and maybe build an almost complete car minus engine?
swapping a lot of stuff over will take time
keep rallying as long as possible - it beats knitting

I was considering buying a salvage M3 and building up the car using those bits - suspension, brakes, engine etc... car would be around £2000 but not sure what mine would sell for...?

I was put off the idea when I added up all that has been spent on existing shell - would have to buy everything from extinguishers to steering wheel to bias brakes etc...

Any idea what my rolling shell might be worth? Sparco cage,newly painted, arches, good plexi windows all round, good fibreglass bonnet... someone on here may be interested so don't suggest its only worth £5!

new shell almost bare and almost ready to go on the spit just need to drop the engine box and crossmember off ,and the rear axle and its straight into getting the seam sealer and and soundproofing off .

Thanks for the reminder - Miss Notax and I are heading to Wales tomorrow to collect the surplus bits from the new shell to flog on Fleabay. Will take camera and post some piccies...

Yes it has, but I think I'll need it as I'm now selling the existing car as is and effectively starting from scratch with the new one...

Spaceman's workshop has two of my cars in it (and will have a third when I find a suitable M3 donor!)









As you can see, work is progressing - and it should be on a spit very soon having sound deadening etc removed. Cage is ordered, so everything is well under way

Not sure of timescale to finish it - but at least I can still compete in the current car in the meantime

Shell is mint - and we think the 35k mileage is genuine

No accident damage, just slightly buckled undersides of front wings where it had been wrongly jacked up and these are going to be replaced by Spaceman's new fibreglass front wings anyway...

Miss Notax and I are now away until 10.8.09 so don't expect too many posts from us!

no grafting all day yesterday but went up to watch the evening stages last night very good but windy only one BMW out Dai Block in his 4 door m3 thing to be honest not that quick ! didnt go up today but there were some dramas there with a spectator sadly being killed ,the navigator is a member of our motorcub and a good mate of mine .
