What other events do you use your rally car for?

To keep costs down this year intending to alternate between rallies and other, cheaper events.

After Goodwood, we'll be entering a slalom - very keen to do Bovington Camp Rally if funds allow and then maybe a rally sprint and a rally test. Any other ideas?

Stick to rallying I say.
I once did a sprint at Three Sisters in my 2.0 Nova and found it very expensive for the amount of competitive time/mileage that you got. A lot of time waiting for your (short) run with maybe three runs over the course of a day (providing no one destroys the timing beam equipment). Never did another one after that

But I've broken rally cars (and hire cars ) on them, in a previous life.

I'm doing the chelmsford motor club Gymkhana in my e30 next week. It has a restricted entry for road rally cars though. The event uses the selectifs from an endurance rally and I don't really know much more than that. BB says to the nearest 5s timing and half untimed tests though

Almost exactly my experience of sprinting too I did my only one in my TVR (one of the reasons I bought the car!) It was a round of the TVR Speed Championship. I was a bit concerned after the first stage when everyone was impressed by my time -even though I had spun... I thought they were joking.

I came second overall (reduced to third on handicap) and felt a bit embarrassed to be picking up silverware on my first attempt. Couldn't believe how little competitive driving there was - about 4 miles in total It was this experience that got me back into a rally car

Having said that, I am tempted by The Team Tempest Rallysprint a 3 mile stage - 2 convoy, 2 practice, 3 timed. £115 entry and a mixture of gravel and tarmac which should be fun. No room for errors sadly as track tree lined and very narrow

I've been known to hit trees a good way off the track/stage

They don't move. It's as if they're rooted to the spot

I did the chelmsford mc gymkhana yesterday. I can well recommend it as an event to anyone with a road rally eligible car. The tests were cracking.

On a similar note I LOVE MY E30 . Reviewing the in car footage really shows I need a quick rack though. The tests were suprisingly long and free flowing, a few scary things to hit but by and large alright. I really ought to have switched the rear tyres to something with a bit more grip in the wet, I think it's probably fair to say that there was no one more sideways than me on the event I was very chuffed with my result: 23rd O/A out of 52 for my first event other than autotests/12 cars driving.

As we are in jersey and have a limited number of events the majority of us do the hillclimbs and the sprints aswell.

I know what you are saying jonnysprinter but even if you only get a few minutes driving it is still a good day out ..........

Glad you had a good time - you may not be 'up there' with everyone on the site - but I set the bar pretty low myself

And the dirt rallies or are you a "My rally car was built for tarmac and it might get dirty" Man .......3 dirt rallies this year plus 2 tarmac events,3 hill climbs..........what more do you want from an island 9x5 full of anti motorsport old twats............

I am not moaning about the number of events at all mate, i appreciate it takes a lot of organising to get this many in place.

I am leaving the dirt rallies to spectating for now, afterall, i need to get my marshall points from somewhere!
