i think that some early E30's came with a manual racks, might be worth a try? they'll be a bit long lock to lock probably.

Now then Steve, apparently, it is possible to bolt a works 2.25 LHD Sunbeam rack to an E36, however, these are like hens teeth now, the last I knew, Dutche Components had new ones on the shelf, that was 7 or 8 years ago now though, don't even know if they are still trading any more.

Other than that, I don't know wether an E30 non power rack could be made to fit, but I would gues teh ratio would be to slow.

THe Bruvs have a Sellholm rack, and I think they do an E36 rack too, pricey though......

Theres a guy who does e30/e36 race/rally quick racks in several speeds in europe, i've had prices off him before i went to sellholm. They are all in bmw casings too so should be good and strong .
If i have time later i'll dig out his name, he's called Roland ___(i think) - you may have come accross him. . . .make sure you are sitting down . Sellholm i'd guess do manual ones too.

Our 2.5 power rack has been well worth the money bolts straight on, retaining the b-m/zf quality engineering.

thanks for all the info the reason i ask is cause i have got a power steering steering colum?? off a corsa the type that they are using on escorts it looks like it wont be to much trouble to fit but i would need a manual rack .so i need to find something to do the job .how much are the sellholm racks and do they do r.h.d, has any one else got any ideas i did think about 205 power racks becuse they are2.4 lock to lock and they run a remote fluid chamber so you can run them as a normal rack if you drain out the fluid and leave it open (i think)

It might be worth finding out what Paul Newbolds/Hockleys car use - they've done a rhd

What's wrong with a Z3 rack powered by an electric pump, Steve?

2.7 turns - not perfect, but a cheap bolt-on to try/see if it's good enough?

i was told over the week end that if i stip a bm rack down and remove the seals it will work ok as a manual rack ????? does any one no if this is the case

Its a common mod with the circuit boys, i've seen several in the kumho bmw series.
i'm not sure what the trick is with the hydraulics.

i was told that you just remove the seals and dont connect the pipes back up i.e remove all off the fluid system

started to change the steering coloum today for the corsa one it looks like its going to be a fairly simple conversion i will take some pics and keep you informed (ps what was with all the porn the other day )
