Not a great result as we had problems on first two stages that resulted in retirement, but we match Nick Elliot (who won the historics in his BDA escort) up to first hairpin, have dropped 5 secs to him after 5 miles and then 19 secs at 6 miles as our problem got worse.

Not 100% sure, think it was dust clogging the new air filter, which resulted in the rubber elbow on inlet manifold closing up. After stopping on the second stage with the same problem the diff went bang. Have stripped this yesterday and three of the pinion teeth are missing. I drove the car out of the stage for three miles slowly, can't believe that the remaining teeth are still there. Don't understand why it failed.

My concern was the smoke, what was causing this
As for the diff ? I think it's the achilles heel sorry don't have a cheap fix
