whats needed is wheels with a suitable offset

I agree this would be ideal - but I've got around 30 wheels with the wrong offset and its much cheaper to buy 2 spacers than replace all the wheels If anyone knows a standard, 5 stud, 18" wheel with a better offset perhaps they can let us know? Do't want to go spending loads of money on new wheels with correct offset - I'd rather put that (when I find some) towards a new shell

Yes 25mm each side - which is still pretty hefty

Which wheel bearings would take biggest pounding front or back?

Well, after much consideration and deliberation, I have just bought the basis for my next rally car

Collecting it with MIss Notax tomorrow after work - it will be a 450+ mile round trip starting at 6.00pm and include towing the car to Spaceman in Wales...

Collected new rally car shell last night as planned. Hadn't planned on not getting home until 4.30am

As a result Miss Notax and me are trashed - but at least after a 450 mile round trip starting at 6pm the car is now safely delivered to Spaceman in South Wales

Very pleased with it -only time for the briefest of checks - but it has more history than just about any car I've ever bought! Body is is great condition - even has all the original under bonnet stickers. Car shows only 35k and has history to substantiate most of it
