Jonny ( BMW325Rally ) & myself are out this weekend.

The weather looks good so any of you heading to watch ?

16 miles through Dalby, and some mega straights. I dont think we are geared for those so may drop time.

Mixed results for the BMW crews but all ok

With the National event only having a limited entry we were brought forward 30 mins to run with them, that meant our last stage would be in daylight, fine by us as we didnt have extra lights.

The day was red hot and it looked like our main problem would be dust so off we set for a gentle first stage in Dalby. Not having been in the forest since the kall kwik last year it was good to have an easy 16.6 miles through Dalby, keeping it flat on the limiter on those straights , piece of cake. NOT. Dalby was great though, we started behind Mel Hudson ( ex rwd 2007 championship winning car ) with Jonny in front. Marc was quickly onto the notes and I was getting more confident as the stage went on. All three BM crews through, mel took that one from myself then Jonny, Jonny sufferd dust catching a V6 Sierra.

Next was gail rig , however on route we came accross Jonny with steam pouring out, a hose had blown he managed a quick fix and banged a load of water in. At Gail Rig start no sign of Mel, but he appeared having decided to take the wrong route,

4.4 miles and it started on the tarmac forest drive going up hill all the way, off we set and I kept it hard in all the way up, to hard as marc shouted square right and I put it down the junction straight on, felt a right plonker as all the specs were smiling, back on it it and feeling the need for speed we approached milners bend, totaly side ways but we got through. i didnt know Mell had gone over there and rolled down the bank, both ok and only light damage to the bm. I got it back together and got to the finish ok. Jonny was there steam pouring again, this time terminal . Nothing we could do so off int cropton.

9.4 miles and I had done this stage before in 2006, so felt fairly happy. no real poblems apart from one over shoot due to dust and sun problems. Intersting fact for me with cropton. 2006 we had a 300bhp rwd cosworth, we did the same stage in the bmw and finished it 2 mins quicker than the cosworth, wise move I think.

Into service to find, the centre box was flat and the rear exhaust mount broken, other than that all good.

Showground spectator satge 0.43 mls, no issues except missed a gear and found a load of nothing towards the end. Headed off to Langdale

13.94 mls Langdale , a good satge for us no issues real problems with dust and very low sun, driving down the 500m straight in dust with sun in your eyes is intersting , we got out ok but with the oill light on ??? O dear. got back to service to find the level just on the dip stick. Looks like my 2.8 project will come sooner.

At the end of the day we got 3rd in class and 12th o/a. 30 started but only 19 got to finish.

Before this post ends, Can I mention young Matt Smith from my club, last year the 205 champ and he got 6th o/a on saturday. A real tallent but like so many lacks the funding to progress. Well done Matt a fine drive.
