Blimey.....that was a roller coster of a rally for you, sorry to hear that.
Was you car 19, the white compact? I presume so when you are beating WRC Impreza’s. Stunning looking car with all the right bits.
I was car 62, a white coupe 328. I was opposite the boys in the compact with the broken pulley, and had a chat with Will from the team there.
I hadn’t even driven the car before the rally, manic getting it ready, as it was a track car and I converted it to get a passport...still waiting for that to come through!
So had a great day in the car which is fairly standard with a decent cage and good brakes. Engine and gearbox is standard and it has an M3 diff.
Our only issue was the diff bushes started to break up and knock badly. A few large cable ties helped to make it survive the day.
I’m hoping to do Brandss Hatch in January as it close to home, although I’m not a race circuit fan!

We were in my relatively new white compact as you guessed. I am hopeless with technology so haven’t updated my photo on here. I still have the red M3 compact and am considering selling it...

I meant to come over and say hello but when I tried you were on stage and I was running around like a maniac the rest of the time sorting our various issues! I recommend Brands Hatch, they don’t just use the circuit but pit lane, tunnel and rally school too. The rally stage is near impossible in my car (probably because I’m too tight to buy new soft tyres) with zero grip but the event itself is very good. Having said that, I’ve had some bad luck there - last time we approached a chicane on the main straight and saw that the previous car had hit the barriers and opened it up. They were the red a white plastic type you get in roadworks. I barely slowed as a result and once committed suddenly saw that the concrete bases were still there. Bugger. Hit them very hard, smashed wheel, steering arms, suspension, bodywork etc... Car 7, a MK2 running behind me did exactly the same thing and took off the whole strut and wheel before crashing into the Armco...

The previous time I hand braked to go under the tunnel but couldn’t see there was a retaining wall and drove straight off it Only doing about 5mph but the whole weight of the car was on the sill. Bit more bodywork was required...

Was due to have a foot op next week, but have decided to put it off until this time next year so may see you at Brands. Wish me luck

I can imagine you were running around like a mad man trying to sort the car. And me being a back marker always out when you were back....next time we compete on the same event, we’ll have to catch up.

I did see your car before the rally and it looked a real piece of equipment, and obviously you peddle it well to get that seeding.

Just got and entry to Brands tonight....can’t believe how quick the entries go. I’m not a fan of circuit rallies, but I only live 15 minutes away so be silly not to do the local rally. Every year it is so slippery and all cars struggle for grip. The mud fest out the back is like ice for the first few stages.

Thanks, put the foot op off until later this year - too busy to have it done now as I’d be out of action and unable to drive for 6 weeks.

We are doing Brands all being well. I’ve been there a few times, had bad luck every time! The rally school stage is almost impossible in my car, I don’t know how any RWD cars get any traction there. Drove off a low wall I couldn’t see on a hairpin into the tunnel on one event, wrecking the sill. Last time I tried to straight line a chicane which looked as though it had been opened by the car ahead - but unfortunately it had left a big concrete block in the way! New wheel, shock, steering etc... bit of a mess.

I’m not a fan of race circuits, but it’s local to me so made sense to do it. I know the rally stage section is near impossible to get grip, especially on a cold Saturday in January
