Mull Rally 8th 9th 10th October

Well just up after a fitful bit of sleep! Not a bad nights work but took it too steady on last stage Tuath and dropped around 15secs. My name sake John took 9 secs out of us to pip us to the 10th spot so it's game on in the next few to see if we can grab a bit of daylight between those chasing ahead of tonights stages. Car performed brilliant after the set up and miss fire woes of yesterday.
Gutted for Davo, Steve Marriot and Dave Mac having a good virgin run by all accounts. Sams girlfriend Sasha who was with him to spectate got a call from a guy with Mk11 looking for a co-driver so ended up doing it but half shaft snapped on Calgary Bay!

Boy is the pace hot but loving every minute, Mishnish was just something else with Sam saying afterwards he had never had to read notes so bloody quickly

OMG Pace has been purley mental today! Had a bottom arm bush collapse on Mishnish but fortunatly towards the end so not too much time lost. Otherwise a great day, weather is stunning bikini hot . Just love this place and hopefully a clean run tonight will see the ellusive calendar spot realised. The 30 year Mull veteran John Cressey set a PB on Calgary today and we were only 5 off so happy with that. Off to see if I can grab some kip before the last leg.

Got to say the Organisers, marshalls and volunteers of this event need a massive pat on the back for not only getting such a mamoth event underway in such a short time but also in the way they handled all that was thrown their way most of which was unpredicatable and unexpected. WELL DONE. What a night, just what a night. Car not worked properly after bottom arm swap at end of Mishnish yesterday. In day was ok to drive round cos could see the small crests where it veered everytime you landed with power on. At night it was impossible and soooo bloody dangerous! Shipped loads of time on long one and Mishnish then big hold up for RTA near Salen (hopefully all ok) anf wished rally might get canned, but no. Realised at service bottom arm we swapped was different to other side so cambers all over. Put new arm on NS and car better but still very nervous so went as quick and safe as we could for last three. After finish Chris informed me the dampers had let go with oil all over but he didn't want to tell me that at service so we didn't frett over Scridain and Griburn! To find ourselves in 9th was awesome. Massive thanks to Sam for a perfect job as always and for being great company and same to Chris Cawthorne Jack and Jonny without who we would never had started never mind got a result! Chuffed to bits is an understatement.

No not a flier the man is just a pure Mull genius in those weather conditions. Had luck to see him off line and into many of the stages and on most he was visabley quicker than almost everyone and ALWAYS the last to brake!

What spec is the Scooby? Nice clear vids. What lamps were you using (they were bright!)

Basically a GpN set up but running front mount intercooler and 34mm restirictor. Ideally it needs lightning and GpA brakes. Might be a winter project unless something else comes along. Hella HiD lamps, 2 spot and 2 drive, they are awesome. Run large bulbs in headlights but it's like the sun has gone in when you drop the pod lamps off!
