BMW Rallying Forum

Hi All,
Have joined this forum to source information and seek feedback on BMW's. Im wanting to build a RWD rally car and are contemplating E30 or E36. Our rules are a bit limiting, i.e original motor but mainly the rest is free. Any coments on using E30 or E36 would be greatly appreciated. My only concern about using and E36 is weight. Can some one please let me know what the minimun weight they have got an E36 down to, keeping in mind all panels must remain untouched.

imho the e36 is better than the e30 on so many reasons over the weight issue...

Yes as Jonathan said welcome to the forum dude, i spent 2yrs over in OZ and must say brilliant place etc, you must be down the Melbourne area if your doing Rallying as not much goes on else where in OZ if im right ???
For your choice i would go for the E36 as well as i would imagine bits are easier to come by for the E36 as there a few people who rally them especially over in Tazzy for the Targa Tasmania etc etc

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your input. Have been involved with rallying since 1985, competing but mainly organising.
Last car was series 2 RX7, that was 5 years ago, awesome little car. Retired to spend more time with the kids but now the wife and family want to get back into it. My daugher is keen to Co-drive. Yes in Victoria, great state for rallying. looking for a car that would do both Tarmac and mainly dirt, like the shape of the E36's so will be doing a lot more research. E30's are pretty cheap here. and have a workshop close by that specialises in them.
