can anyone tell me the difference between a 18cc and a 19cc bmw engine by looks.

Im not 100% sure but i think the 1.8 oil filter cap is alloy made, and the 1.9 is plastic made.

Yeah,,, oil filter housing lid is alloy and the m44 is plastic
Thermostat housing is also alloy but plastic on m44
Also the sensor on timing chain cover is at the o/s of the m42 and at the n/s on the m44.
