Just received a flyer with an entry form for 2009 Rallycross Open Championship which gives Rally drivers the opportunity to try Rallycross, however to minimise the risk of damage a maximum of 8 cars will be set off individually at 5 second intervals in the Rally car category. There will be practice, 3 heats and a class final. 1st round is at Croft Circuit, Sunday March 22nd www.RallycrossOpen.com

Interesting I've always fancied rallycross - all the benefits and risks of wheel to wheel combat combined with oodles of oversteer

As a sport never seems to get the recognition it deserves.

Shame these events are so far up North (and Ireland!) so on a cost and damage limitation basis probably not for us... Be interesting to find out which BMWs are taking place - no info on website yet...

Getting TV time wouldcertainly make getting sponsorship a little easier (even if in reality the front runners have most coverage)

a minimum of a National B licence is required

Entry fee is a discounted rate of £130 for the Rally car category.
Looks like the BMW Rear Wheel Drive Challenge boys have a category of their own

Superb brings ck memories - when does that clip date from? I'd definitely be up for a go if Murray would agree to commentate

I used to watch it when Will Gollop and his 800bhp 6R4 used to compete - I think car could get to 60mph in 2.5 secs (on semi loose surface )

Interesting question about licence requirements from Simon - may have to get the blue book out...

I also remember watching Will Gollop (6R4) John Welsh (Xtrac Escort) Martin Schanche (RS200) Matti Alamaki (205 T16) and Mark Rennison (RS200) battling it out

You thinking of doing this ? I hope to and another challenge E30 is as well. I know of another rally cross E30 being prepared to run in the E30 rallycross chapionship.

We dont have to modify to much, we need to film the side windows take the passenger seat out and we can run like that????? If anyone knows different please say.

I thought about it briefly but then reality set in;
I've only got so much to spend this year
Don't have much patience with slower cars in front of me
Have already commited to going over to the IOM along with the BruvsMotorWorks sister car end of Feb to do the Jaks Stages (Team entry) and would like to get back up to Otterburn (old favourite) middle of the year

Ok Ive gone and entered the rallycross at croft. I may regret it but it should be fun.

We have 4 challenge spec 325's entered. I think we are going at the back of the Revivals grid. We have a gap of a few rows and possibly a 5sec time delay in us setting off to keep us away from the others.

Well thats the plan
