can any one help I have a 316i with a 1900 m44 engine it rev's to 6.5 but some times it feels like the rev limiter come in at 5 its a misfire but feel like limiter is there a way to stop the limiter working like cut a wire on the ecu .

Have you fitted a e30 diff and removed the ABS by any chance?

Get the ECU remapped by END tuning and remove all crap off it

i put a m44 in a 316i and it did the same as yours is doing. i sent the ecu to endtune and it now works fine. something to do with the abs.
