rear wing worth it for the e36/5 compact?

I am looking for opinions on rear wings on e36/5 compact, in stage rally setting.
Is it worth it? At what speeds does it actually matter, and does it hurt acceleration?
What types of wings are actually effective? As, surprise surprise, I will not have an access to a wind tunnel
