Fitting spare fuel pumps?

As you may have seen on my 'events' post, my fuel pump packed up at Woodbridge costing us what would probably have been a decent result. In my Escort years ago I ran two pumps, wondering whether to do this on the BMW? In fact I'm considering running four pumps - 2 high pressure and 2 lift pumps as my car won't run if either breaks. Thinking of having the spares fully plumbed in and ready to go with separate switches operating HP pump 1 and lift pump 1 and the spares by another switch. Any thoughts or fuel pump recommendations?
