I dont have the money for proflex etc etc
So whats my options for budget gravel suspension
E36 coupe in build

Hi,
We have done several forest rallies in our e36 coupe. first couple with a Bilstein kit that we got from PD developments. It was a bit hard on the front and soft on the back.
we then got some new BMW front struts and converted them to take escort long stroke inserts with 350lb? springs.
On the rear we used avo coilovers, but all the suspension loads go through the one bolt at the bottom (which has already bent) and the weak boot floor at the top. Have now gone back to the Bilstein adjustable platform spring mounted on the top arm and the avo coilover damper without a spring. So far that seems to work well.
Could do with more rear travel, but it goes into positive camber if you give it much more at the rear.

Very happy with the revalved Bilsteins in my 318ti.
The rears are skinny little drinking straws, but I haven't managed to make them fade yet.

I have a question about using bilstein front inserts on E36 compact. Something like this:

My only concern is if the "drinking straw" is strong enough for front? Reigers and some others look much different:
