the compact took a bit of damage on the jersey rally

Postby jerseypug » Sun Oct 16, 2016 9:21 pm

i had a few problems on the friday with overheating of had to pull out after stage 2 then entered the trophy rally on the saturday. The car was flying and all was going well until i left the slicks on and it started to rain. the body damage looks like it is panels and a bottom arm but the air filter was ripped off and loads of ground was sucked up the air pipe tube which caused the engine to loose compression and breath loads so its time for a strip down. gutted as the car was going well and we were having a great time.

yes thats true, there were a few in hospital over the weekend, one had to be cut out of his car and they cut the roof, cage and floor to get him out, another navigator broke his back so i am lucky it is just some panels.

just got back from the engine builders, each ring was jammed in on all 4 pistons so he heated them up to get the rings out and gave everything a good clean up, honed the bores, skimmed the head and put a 3 layer head gasket instead of the 5 layer it previously had.
the car is now straight and needs putting back together then time for a remap
