Bit of a delay in news, so I'll begin...

Did it's 1st rally in May, the 1000 Lanes, and did 30 miles. Snapped the hydraulic handbrake bracket after a little modification so it'd lock. Then the car started loosing power, getting noticeably worse till it was reving then getting no where quick. Anyway turns out to be a cracked or split manifold. Got one of those in stock so I'll get to it soon.

Was really impressed by the way it handled. Ran 195 65 15 yoko 35s on the front and khumo r700 on the back. Absolutely brilliant in the wet.

I've managed to get around to some things, I fitted some 535 engine mounts, polybush lollipop bushes and 635 gearbox mounts.

Here's some pics

Oh yeah before I forget, does anyone know where I can get a quick shift and white nylon gear knob? Also going to after a Z3 rack and perspex window kit if anyone knows of any. Must be a full set with large sliders too if possible. Thanks

Thanks boys, after seeing the price of those B&M ones, I think I'll go Z3.

Anyone used one of those happy shopper ones off ebay? £25 snoots. Don't know anything about them. Anyone used one?

Cheers

I have to say, i made my own quick shift, take the original stick, close the vice around the stick just below the ball and hit the end until the ball moves up... Mine is just so its off the hatching. I thought it would have moved by now, but no, its still there.

I took out the rubber bit as on lada that is quite a problem and a headache i didnt want, but i think teh bmw is ok for that and im going to mod another stick to sort that as mine is so short!

Update:

Got my quickshift sorted, haven't got round to fitting it yet. Still waiting for my dural to come too.

Changed the manifold, engine mounts, and wrapped the exhaust and now I have a problem. The steel ring around the steering knuckle has worn away the wrap, and the engine is now catching the steel ring when I turn left. Not good. Manifolds were visually the same when I swapped them, engine mounts I have been told are a straight swap, but still confused as to why its catching.

Also, I've redesigned my handbrake as per road rally rules next year, the pivot point is perfect, no flex in the floor, and the bar is very long. .625 willwood cylinder, 15'' wheels, hard compount tyres (khumo chunkies) and I still cant get it to lock in the bone dry. Tonight I popped out to try it in the wet and it worked, but seemed to be better when I dabbed the foot brake.

Excuse the red on the carpet, I folded the carpet the wrong way. Doh

Also picked up a Cartek Battery Isolator and Lifeline Fire Extinguisher Kit. Tidy

I got it from Peter Lloyd, give him a shout he's very reasonable.

The bias valve is good for setting up how you like the car, I put more to the back on the loose. When we were doing the 1000 Lanes, my old man was adjusting it as we were competitive as I didn't have enough time to set it up myself.

Still got a problem with the bar mind. Seem I have to dab the foot brake even in the wet. May try a genuine girling cylinder as I've heard they're like night and day compared to the willwood ones.

Hi guys haven't been around for a long while. Still got the punk pink beast. Ended up buying a house but still managed to keep the rally car and buy a e30 touring as a road car. I've just finished doing a e36 box swap. Still got bits to do. I'll get some pics up when my PC is finally running.
