Thanks, but its not out of choice  Still havnt bothered to get my bottle of argomix from scotts house and Mig welding with argon isnt very fun to say the least. The experience is proving to be good practice though!

Got the door bars done today and the front A pillar tags on, all seems nice and stiff now. Next job is seat rails.

Good work, I have just ordered a 6 Point and extra bars for mine, I am pretty much hoping to end up with more or less the same spec cage.

Does the brace bar accross the main hoop bolt to the transmission tunnel?

It does, but this is an add in. What one did you go for in the end?

I went for the omp bolt in, I am not sure what it is going to be like though, the guy at demon tweeks told me it was better than the e30 one so that is a good start! I think it has tags too tie in the a and b pillars but it it doesn't I can always copy you and make some.

If you think that OMP was bad, you have never experienced the nightmare that is fitting one of these safety devices piece of sh*te!

Got the bulkhead struts done today, need to get some saddle brackets and another bit of tube to I can put a bar between the front of these and then I'm finished with it.

Thanks, cant say I envy you with the wiring. I saw an E36 loom out of the car once and it scared me! Unfortunately wiring photos dont make much good automotive porn

Cheers, I did consider it but wanted the whole thing to stay easily removeable and it starts getting a bit measy when you go through the bulkhead unless its a weld in. The bulkhead struts are just a bit of a safety measure, when driving cars with the front hoops this far back it makes me feel a bit like im driving with my feet out of the car!

Nice little mod!

Are you going to paint the cage or get it powder coated?

Just realised that this thread is a little out of date, though to tell the truth theres not masses thats been done, the cage is done, engine and box mountings are done and its all in there for trial fitting. The steering column has been moved and and a new bracket made to hold it further across inline with the pedals. drivers seat rail is done as are the rails for the floor mounted pedal box. Had to cut masses out of the top of th tunnel to accomodate the much taller gearbox which threw a spanner in the works, got rather unmotivated after that and its sat there like so since mid November really. Made a spit over christmas so that I can clean up the underside and to install the turrets more easily.

The bigger problems are that I have nowhere to do the work atm as Ive outgrown my current garage to the extent that I simply cant work in there anymore. Finding a bigger unit has been a lotof hassle to say the least and the search is proving very unfuitfull thus far. To make things even worse I have left my current job and am looking for a new one (stupid to do it like that I know!) so any money set aside for the rally car has been put to saving/spent on a new road car which was long overdue.

So theres the story of my life over the last three months for those that are interested/bored enough to read it. Realistically its not going to be done until after the summer at the earliest provided I find a job and aworkshop pretty soon!

I'l try and get in the garage at some point and take some photos before I go skiing on thursday!
