Its really not that bad boys, ive hammered it with a scabbler and a grinder and only got 2 holes in the sills, the discolouration you can see on the floor pans and under the rear seat area is where moisture has got under neath the BMW sealer and sat there etc.

I have taken it all back to bare metal yesterday and cut out 3 pices and plated them, I have also removed the plastic ramp / jack lift points and plated them over as well to stop moisture and crap getting in there, then covered everything in Jenolite. Today i again wirebrushed everything with the grinder and i have applied a liberal coat of Zinc 182 primer and it will get another coat of that again tommorow and then seam sealered over the seams again, then it will be stone chipped and then painted in White QD90 Metal Paint, i think that will be more than adequate.

With my past record with rally cars im not building to last the next 30 yrs in concours trim but im more than sure it won't rot away for the next 10yrs at least, and as Steve (HSR2.6) said this is concours condition for a shell that was built in 96, if this was a Ford or Vauxhall shell of the same year you would be replacing just about every panel from floors to sills to wings etc PMSL.

Don't get me wrong i would love to get it blasted or even acid dipped then dipped in a Zinc primer bath and charged, but that process is done by a firm in Birmingham and costs £2000 for both process's, and un-fortunatly my budget won't even strecth to getting it blasted then prepped and painted underneath so it down to the old grinder, scabbler and plain old elbow grease to make good !!!

I really want to try and build it for £10K (which includes the purchase price of £3K) and as i have a garage to build on my house which i bought 3yrs ago and don't want the build cost of the garage to go on the mortgage, im still building cars in my parents garage and im nearly forty   :|

Quick one showing a couple of pictures, 1st shows the underside of the car after having 2 coats of Black Zinc Primer, 2nd shows the seams being re-sealed again, 3rd shows the underside after being stone chipped and lastly after being painted in QD90 Gloss white Metal Paint. See What you think ???
