Postby bruvs1 » Sat Oct 05, 2013 9:15 pm

Entry in for a local event around three sisters, used to go well there 10 years ago in the sunbeam! had a short test there earlier in the week that went o.k but showed up a few small problems, hopefully now fixed and just got to rebuild it tomorrow  nice to see george and kenny out in there compacts also another m3 powered car apparently! Almost a full entry so no doubt we'll get bladdered by pocket rockets! See you there if your coming for a gander! 8)

Well done to wigan motor club, great little event 8) forgot how slippy three sisters can be especially with a bigger engine  spent the first 6 stages wrestling with understeer/oversteer while we tried every setting we had until we found a set-up that was nearly there, not over happy with the pirelli's but set some top 10 times in the second half of the day, plenty of positives from our day out. Nice to see plenty of forum members there and even rwsc himself! :D

Hi Bruvs, Nice to meet you today. Great event, weather couldn't seem to decide what it was doing, so like you had a fair bit of slipping and sliding. Good fun though.

It was going to be Lynn Charity stages at Sculthorpe but it has been cancelled due to urgent military training or something. we will probably finish off the year with the two at Blyton, Lincoln green and Hall trophy I think they are called. End of Nov and early Dec.

 Good to see you boys again even though I didn't stop long or get chance for a looooooooonger chat.

Typical wet Wigan

Always good to get miles on the car. The wet slippery conditions and the variations of corners etc make it a worthwhile test for you 8)

Ah well.........back to my knitting

Sorry I didn't get a chance to chat with you all, I was tied up all day on the flying finish clocks & radio link etc... not a minute to have a walk around.

Anyway everyone seemed to enjoy the event and especially our twin stage format!

I was just taking a look at the results, looks like the Bruvs were starting to set some competitive times, last stage was 2.36 which was generally 3 seconds off the average pace of the fast top runners once you exclude the top 3 which were on another pace again. The 15 second winning margin by Ian Rowlance in his 6R4 is a massive winning margin at this venue, it's often only a couple of seconds at the end.

That white Compact of Kenny Brown, car 16, sounded like an absolute screamer, wonderful! Is that an M3 engine like mine?

Cheers,

Martin

Yes it is, it came out of the pedleys m3 which they crashed on epynt, he was doing some serious drifting! The 2.8 has been ditched in favour of the m3 lump , think he's off in the woods next..

I can't seem to access a full set of results at the moment martin, I can only see stage 12 until catalyst update their site.

We struggled with tyres and set-up in the wet, our set-up is for the manx lanes and we went through a lot of roll bar scenarios to get the thing eventually hooked up for SS9 onwards, also helped by the weather at this point.

Just got a fair bit of work to do now to correct weight transfer, an intermittent fuel guage, short power band and bad clutch behaviour after SS12.

On the positive side theres a lot of build items that work really well. We had some fun and learnt a lot too. All in all a good little event. 8)

Yes, the results only seem to show the last stage and the overall results, sorry I don't know why this is!

Maybe if several of us send an email to Catylist results they will sort it.
